August 10, 2022 – Cyber attacks are on the rise making security top of mind for most businesses and Google is no exception. The company is now enabling Two Factor Authentication. This will affect your Gmail accounts and any multi-function print devices that connect to this service (i.e. scan to Gmail).

What is Two Factor Authentication? 2FA or MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is a security procedure where in addition to a password, a code is sent to your email or phone. This reduces the chances of bad actors hacking into your accounts.

Don’t use Gmail as your default company email? It is still possible that your scan to email function was set up under a free Gmail address by your business technology company or IT team. If this is the case, as of May 30, 2022 your scan to email feature may not work.

How do you fix this? While it may seem like a copier or printer issue, it is actually something your IT team will need to handle. If Lockwood Moore is your Managed Service Provider, we’ve got you covered. If not, there are various resources online to give you step by step instructions.
