PROFESSIONAL NETWORK SECURITY
Network (net-work, n.) any widespread, highly organized system; two or more computers connected together to share files, exchange data, or communicate digitally with each other. Data networks are referred to as either a local area network (LAN), which is a network within a small geographic area, like a business office or home; or as a wide area network (WAN), which is often located over a large geographic area, and may contain several local area networks. A firewall is typically the security control point between LAN and WAN networks.
Security (se-cu-ri-ty, n.) safety; protection; defense; freedom from financial concerns.
Network Security is comprised of the policies and practices used to maintain the usability of the network resources and the integrity and confidentiality of the data. The methods used to achieve this are challenged daily by a world that wants access and control of your information. This present-day battle of technologies to attack and to defend is ancient in origin, and will be on-going.
